Title  Policing licensed premises
Description  This project aims to consolidate the existing knowledge base on policing of licensed premises into a single document. The project will involve a number of methodologies, including:
- an international literature search on liquor licensing and alcohol related harm issues that have direct relevance to police;
- an assessment of key documents to identify the legislative and organisation framework within which the policing of licensed premises occurs in Australia; and
- national consultations with key stakeholders on current practice and organisational relationships within all Australian police jurisdictions.

A monograph was published in April 2003, documenting best practice in the policing of licensed premises. It identifies strategies to reduce alcohol-related harms and policing; drinking environments; policing licensed drinking environments; problem solving; collaborative strategies and future directions. The monograph is a useful tool for operational police, their managers, policy makers and other professions with an interest in this area.
